Cara’s Journey (in progress)
When Cara Willowmead’s husband, Julius is tragically murdered in an arson attack, she vows to find the truth and sets out on an epic quest to find the culprit. Unbeknownst to her in the beginning, her husbands death was an assassination event gone wrong; she is in fact the target, an unwitting pawn in the machinations of a cult called The Order of Araxus.
The Order of Araxus (TOOA) follow the prophecies of an ancient seer, a long dead individual who created 12 prophecies hewn into stone tablets. They are a fanatical and secretive sect who worship Araxus as a god, and his words as law. The sixth prophecy reads:
“When the Dagonisti with the half moon mark returns to the homeland to claim the ancient throne, the fields will burn, blood will stain the ground, and the screams of the dying will echo throughout all lands. So say I, Araxus, mighty prophet and seer, in the year of the Blighted Crop 509.”
TOOA believe Cara is this prophesied harbinger of destruction and will stop at nothing to kill her; she has a half moon shaped birthmark on her right arm, and has Dagonisti ancestry. When Cara was a child living in the village of Idelraine, TOOA murdered her family and the entire village due to the people being descended from from the same ethnic group. Fate intervened, Cara survived the attack and was adopted by two kind scholars.
TOOA send an inexperienced assassin to dispatch Cara. He succeeds in burning down her house and killing her husband, but failed to check she was in the building. Cara then embarks on a journey to seek the truth, unware that is she is being pursued by TOOA’s Head Assassin until a much later stage.
